• Established in 1994 by Dr. James Wyban, HHA created the world's first Commercial SPF Shrimp Breeding and Broodstock Production Company. Nobody has more experience in shrimp breeding and broodstock production than Dr. Wyban and HHA.
• HHA has done far more research than any broodstock supplier in the world. HHA has been awarded several research grants through government agencies to enhance our broodstock genetics. Research projects are reviewed by government agencies to ensure that the highest level of science is being practiced and that results are interpreted in an unbiased manner. No commercial broodstock supplier comes close to our expertise in shrimp breeding research.
• Our biosecure breeding center and production facility is the most advanced in the industry. Equipped with the latest tank, photoperiod and re-circulating filtration systems, HHA's breeding center is capable of producing 24 distinct families per run. The breeding center also contains Ultra-Clean algae and artemia production systems to provide optimal nauplii and post larvaen nutrition. HHA's biosecure broodstock production tanks include both round pond and raceway systems. The round pond system developed by Dr. Wyban has proven effective in controlling pond environment for fast growth at high density. The raceway allows HHA to achieve higher air and water temperatures, similar to that of SE Asia allowing even faster growth. The ability to produce large quantities of SPF postlarvae, provide an optimum production environment and exercise quality control from breeding to larval rearing to growout to shipping, allows HHA to provide the highest quality broodstock available.
• HHA has the highest shipping survival in the industry. Having more than 12 years in the industry, HHA has shipped more broodstock than anyone else. With more than a decade of packing and shipping experience and our ongoing packing experiments, our shipping results are reliable and consistent. HHA's proprietary conditioning and packing techniques start at least 7 days before shipping. HHA is able to perform additional quality control measures before using carefully controlled water treatment during packing. We work hard to get the results you want.
• HHA's disease management program and virus challenge program goes beyond the competition. Most broodstock suppliers are testing for 4 diseases at most. HHA routinely performs 12 different diagnostic tests with no disease organisms ever detected in our broodstock or our facility. All diagnostics are performed by Dr. Don Lighter's highly regarded Lab at the University of Arizona's Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory. HHA uses Dr. Lighter's Lab to perform Taura Virus Challenges to verify Taura Virus Resistance in our TVR™ families. You can be confident that our broodstock are screened and certified SPF and SPR by third parties.
• HHA uses the highest quality growout feed available. Our growout feed formulation is custom designed for optimal levels of high quality protein. Producing high quality broodstock requires attention to all aspects of broodstock health. HHA provides optimal nutrition from maturation to larval rearing and through growout. The result is stronger and healthier broodstock. HHA does not take any shortcuts in producing the finest quality broodstock available.
